The Flightradar website has crashed due to a high volume of traffic related to the Russia-Ukraine crisis.

The Russia-Ukraine conflict erupted quickly after Russia's action, with Ukraine announcing the closure of its airspace.

Following the Russian military intervention in Ukraine and the ensuing closing of Ukrainian airspace, Flightradar24, an online platform that displays real-time commercial aircraft flight monitoring information on a map, failed on Thursday.

"Some users may experience slowness or brief connection troubles when using Flightradar24 due to extremely heavy demand." Flightradar24 tweeted, "We're working on enhancing available performance right now."

"We're still working hard to expand capacity, but the huge foreign interest generates 10-20 times the regular traffic, which is difficult to handle."

Following the Russian intervention, Ukraine announced the closure of its airspace. Following this, an Air India flight bound for Ukraine to bring Indians home made a U-turn.

Even before the airspace was shut down, a number of multinational airlines had cancelled flights to Ukraine due to security concerns raised by Russia's force buildup along the country's border.

Other countries were taken aback when Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the military operation early Thursday. "I have decided on a military action," he stated in an unexpected television statement.

Putin accused the US and its allies of neglecting Russia's demand that they block Ukraine from joining NATO and provide Moscow with security guarantees in a televised address. He stated that Russia does not want to occupy Ukraine, but rather will work to demilitarise the country and bring those responsible to trial. Large explosions were reported in Kyiv, Kharkiv, Odessa, and other places across Ukraine as Putin spoke before morning.
