Elon Musk, the founder of SpaceX, posted an animated animation on Tuesday showing the company's Starship spacecraft and Super Heavy rocket, collectively known as Starship, on their way to Mars.
The five-minute movie, which includes amazing images and music, chronicles the Starship's journey from Earth to Mars. Astronauts may be seen staring out on a lit-up Mars base in the final seconds of the footage.
Elon Musk, who is also the CEO of Tesla, tweeted, "This will be real in our lifetime."
Musk’s aerospace company SpaceX aims to land the first humans on the Red Planet by 2024. It is developing Starship, a fully reusable transportation system capable of transporting crew and cargo to "Earth's orbit, the Moon, Mars, and beyond."
"Starship will be the world's most powerful launch vehicle ever created, capable of carrying more than 100 metric tonnes to Earth orbit," according to SpaceX.
Musk said last week, while giving an update on Starship, that it was capable of building a self-sustaining metropolis on Mars, according to Space.com. He had added, "I think we should strive to achieve that as soon as we can."
In the long run, the billionaire stressed the need of humans becoming a multi-planetary species. He went on to say that humans would eventually travel "outside the solar system, bringing life with us."
