The NAACP President's Award will be given to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

At the NAACP Image Awards on Saturday, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry will make their big Hollywood debut. The President's Award for remarkable achievement and distinguished public service is expected to be given to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. Those who have previously received the award include Muhammad Ali, Jesse Jackson, Colin Powell, Condoleezza Rice, LeBron James, and Rihanna.

According to PEOPLE, Harry and Meghan have funded efforts to tackle the COVID-19 pandemic through their Archewell Foundation, which they established in 2020, and have focused their attention on the Black Lives Matter movement and racial justice advocacy. According to PEOPLE, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex stated in a statement, "It's a true pleasure to be recognised by President Derrick Johnson and the NAACP, whose work to promote racial fairness and civil rights are as relevant now as they were nearly 115 years ago."

The two have also cooperated on a new biennial award with the NAACP to recognise leaders who are bringing about revolutionary change at the intersection of social justice and technology to advance civil and human rights. Each year, the winner will receive an unrestricted stipend of USD 100,000 to help them continue to make a difference in their field.

Meanwhile, Mary J. Blige will perform at the 53rd NAACP Image Awards, which will be televised live on BET on February 26 at 8 p.m. ET. Other performers include Issa Rae, Kerry Washington, LL Cool J, Samuel L. Jackson, Tiffany Haddish, Zendaya, and others.
