At the NAACP Image Awards on Saturday, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry will make their big Hollywood debut. The President's Award for remarkable achievement and distinguished public service is expected to be given to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. Those who have previously received the award include Muhammad Ali, Jesse Jackson, Colin Powell, Condoleezza Rice, LeBron James, and Rihanna.
According to PEOPLE, Harry and Meghan have funded efforts to tackle the COVID-19 pandemic through their Archewell Foundation, which they established in 2020, and have focused their attention on the Black Lives Matter movement and racial justice advocacy. The two have also cooperated on a new biennial award with the NAACP to recognise leaders who are bringing about revolutionary change at the intersection of social justice and technology to advance civil and human rights. Each year, the winner will receive an unrestricted stipend of USD 100,000 to help them continue to make a difference in their field.
