Russian's abotage groups' have invaded Kyiv, Ukraine's capital: President of Ukraine

On Friday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky accused Russian soldiers of firing rockets into residential areas in Kyiv and other Ukrainian cities.

According to a transcript, Zelensky claimed in a televised address that Russia's claim that it does not target civilians is "a lie." "In fact, they don't differentiate between which places to operate in," Zelensky continued. "Russia's offensive continues in the hopes of exhausting our forces. No one, however, is exhausted."

Current situation: According to Zelensky, Russian "enemy sabotage groups" have invaded Kyiv, the country's capital, and have designated him and his family as No. 1 and No. 2 targets.

According to CNN, he indicated he'll stay in government quarters in Kyiv but that Russia is focusing on getting him out. He went on to say that the Russians seek to "politically destroy Ukraine by destroying the head of state."

Later in the day, White House press secretary Jen Psaki stated the White House was in contact with Zelensky and knew where he was.

"We're not going to get into security issues," she said, "but... we're striving to offer him with a variety of support."

Meanwhile, in response to Russia's invasion, Zelensky signed a decree on Thursday ordering a full mobilisation. During the era of martial law, Ukrainian men aged 18 to 60 are temporarily forbidden from leaving the country, according to the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.

According to Zelensky's directive, Ukraine would call up conscripts and reservists across the country for a period of 90 days.

The overall picture: According to the Associated Press, Ukraine's Health Minister Viktor Lyashko reported that at least 57 Ukrainians have been murdered and 169 more injured as of Thursday evening.
